Die Sprache des Verlustes: ein Lexikon der Unübersetzbaren erforscht die Übersetzung als verkörperten Akt der Spannung und Erfindung. Durch Stimme, Bild, Ton und Bewegung inszeniert das Projekt die Sprache als lebendige, instabile Materie voller Politik, persönlicher und kollektiver intimer Erfahrung. Er erforscht, wie der durch den Kolonialismus und das Erbe geprägte Sinn zerbricht und transformiert wird, wenn er Kulturen und Geschichten durchquert.
The Language of Loss: A Lexicon of the Untranslatable von Shatr ist Teil von ب أنفاس نا ن ست مر Through Breath We Continue: ein Kooperationsprojekt zwischen dem Lips-Festival und dem Beirut Art Center zur Koproduktion und Begleitung interdisziplinärer Projekte. Ausgezeichnet als Mittelmeersaison 2026, sieht diese Initiative die Auswahl von drei in der Produktion befindlichen Aufführungen, eine Residenzzeit, Unterstützung und eine öffentliche Präsentation beim Festival Lips #3 vor - Atem. Das von Elena Biserna, Ibrahim Nehme und Nour Sokhon gemeinsam betreute Projekt entsteht aus einem gemeinsamen Interesse an Atmung und Stimme als Plattformen des Lebens, der Beziehung und der gegenseitigen Abhängigkeit. In einem von ökologischen, politischen und wirtschaftlichen Krisen durchzogenen Kontext bekräftigt er den Wunsch und das materielle und symbolische Recht zu atmen und zu sprechen - zu existieren. Die ausgewählten Künstler, Dayna Ash, Shatr (Sarah Huneidi, Theresa Sahyoun und Nadine Makarem) und Nour Sokhon, bieten Erzählungen an, die in der Gegenwart verankert sind, aber offen für Vorstellungen von Wiederaufbau, Wiedergutmachung und Gerechtigkeit sind. Angesichts einer verschmutzten und durch massive Zerstörung erdrückenden Gegenwart beanspruchen sie die Luft und das Hörvermögen als gemeinsame Güter, sowohl biologisch als auch politisch, ökologisch und sozial. Zwischen Poesie, gesprochenem Wort, Bildern und Musik machen ihre Projekte das Sprechen und die Aufführung zu einem Raum der Pflege und des kollektiven Atems.

The Language of Loss: A Lexicon of the Untranslatable explores translation as an embodied act of tension and invention. Through voice, image, sound and movement, the project stages language as a living, unstable matter, charged with politics, personal and collective intimate experience. It probes how meaning, shaped by colonialism and heritage, fractures and transforms as it crosses cultures and histories.
Shatr’s The Language of Loss: A Lexicon of the Untranslatable is part of بِأنفاسِنا نَستَمر Through Breath We Continue: a cooperation project between the Lips Festival and the Beirut Art Center for the co-production and support of interdisciplinary projects. Awarded the Mediterranean Season 2026 label, this initiative provides for the selection of three performances during production, a residency period, support, and a public presentation at the Lips #3 Festival— Breath. Co-curated by Elena Biserna, Ibrahim Bala and Nour Sokhon, this project emerges from a common interest in breath and voice as platforms of life, relationship and interdependence. In a context crossed by ecological, political and economic crises, it reaffirms the desire and the material and symbolic right to breathe and speak – to exist. The selected artists, Dayna Ash, Shatr (Sarah Huneidi, Theresa Sahyoun and Nadine Makarem) and Nour Sokhon, propose narratives anchored in the present, but open to imaginaries of reconstruction, reparation and justice. Faced with a present polluted and made suffocating by massive destruction, they claim air and audibility as common goods, both biological and political, environmental and social. Between poetry, spoken word, images and music, their projects make speaking and performance a space of care and collective breathing.

Attraverso la voce, l'immagine, il suono e il movimento, il progetto mette in scena il linguaggio come materia viva, instabile, carica di politica, di esperienza intima personale e collettiva. Indaga su come il significato, plasmato dal colonialismo e dall'eredità, si spezza e si trasforma quando attraversa culture e storie.
The Language of Loss: A Lexicon of the Untranslatable di Shatr fa parte ب أنفاس نا ن ست مر Through Breath We Continue: un progetto di cooperazione tra il Festival Lips e il Beirut Art Center per la co-produzione e l'accompagnamento di progetti interdisciplinari. Etichettata come Stagione Mediterranea 2026, questa iniziativa prevede la selezione di tre spettacoli in corso di produzione, un tempo di residenza, un supporto e una presentazione pubblica al Festival Lips #3 - Soffio. Co-curata da Elena Biserna, Ibrahim Nehme e Nour Sokhon, questo progetto nasce da un interesse comune per la respirazione e la voce come piattaforme di vita, relazione e interdipendenza. In un contesto attraversato da crisi ecologiche, politiche ed economiche, riafferma il desiderio e il diritto materiale e simbolico di respirare e parlare - di esistere. Gli artisti selezionati, Dayna Ash, Shatr (Sarah Huneidi, Theresa Sahyoun e Nadine Makarem) e Nour Sokhon, propongono racconti radicati nel presente, ma aperti verso immaginari di ricostruzione, riparazione e giustizia. Di fronte a un presente inquinato e soffocato da distruzioni di massa, esse rivendicano l'aria e l'udibilità come beni comuni, sia biologici che politici, ambientali e sociali. Tra poesia, parole parlate, immagini e musica, i loro progetti fanno della parola e della performance uno spazio di cura e di respiro collettivo.

Il sonde comment le sens, façonné par le colonialisme et l’héritage, se fracture et se transforme lorsqu’il traverse les cultures et les histoires.

The Language of Loss: A Lexicon of the Untranslatable de Shatr fait partie de بِأنفاسِنا نَستَمر Through Breath We Continue : un projet de coopération entre le Festival Lips et le Beirut Art Center pour la co-production et l’accompagnement de projets interdisciplinaires. Labellisée Saison Méditerranée 2026, cette initiative prévoit la sélection de trois performances en cours de production, un temps de résidence, un soutien et une présentation publique au Festival Lips #3 — Souffle. Co-curaté par Elena Biserna, Ibrahim Nehme et Nour Sokhon, ce projet émerge d’un intérêt commun pour la respiration et la voix comme plateformes de vie, de relation et d’interdépendance. Dans un contexte traversé par des crises écologiques, politiques et économiques, il réaffirme le désir et le droit matériel et symbolique de respirer et de parler – d’exister. Les artistes sélectionnées, Dayna Ash, Shatr (Sarah Huneidi, Theresa Sahyoun et Nadine Makarem) et Nour Sokhon, proposent des récits ancrés dans le présent, mais ouverts vers des imaginaires de reconstruction, de réparation et de justice. Face à un présent pollué et rendu étouffant par des destructions massives, elles revendiquent l’air et l’audibilité comme des biens communs, à la fois biologiques et politiques, environnementaux et sociaux. Entre poésie, spoken word, images et musique, leurs projets font de la prise de parole et de la performance un espace de soin et de respiration collective.

Etiquetada como Temporada Mediterránea 2026, esta iniciativa prevé la selección de tres actuaciones en producción, un tiempo de residencia, un apoyo y una presentación pública en el Festival Lips #3 - Soplo. Co-curado por Elena Biserna, Ibrahim Nehme y Nour Sokhon, este proyecto surge de un interés común por la respiración y la voz como plataformas de vida, relación e interdependencia. En un contexto atravesado por crisis ecológicas, políticas y económicas, reafirma el deseo y el derecho material y simbólico de respirar y hablar - de existir. Los artistas seleccionados, Dayna Ash, Shatr (Sarah Huneidi, Theresa Sahyoun y Nadine Makarem) y Nour Sokhon, proponen relatos anclados en el presente, pero abiertos a imaginarios de reconstrucción, reparación y justicia. Frente a un presente contaminado y asfixiante por destrucciones masivas, reivindican el aire y la audibilidad como bienes comunes, tanto biológicos como políticos, ambientales y sociales. Entre la poesía, el spoken word, las imágenes y la música, sus proyectos hacen que el discurso y la actuación sean un espacio de cuidado y respiración colectiva.
