Open to the public since February 2015, this young museum presents a collection of fossils characteristic of Orgon and Alpilles, from many years of research and collection by professional and passionate geologists.
Throughout the year, come and discover the rich and diverse history of Orgon, a typical Urgonian limestone locality but also an emblematic place of human history. Unique in Provence and inscribed in the national inventory of the geopatrimoine, the Urgonia Museum tells you the singular and fabulous history of the Urgonian limestone, its fossils and its specificities, for 130 million years until the arrival of man in the territory about 10,000 years ago. The Urgonia Museum is above all a place of exchange and sharing open to all. We implement several devices to accompany all visitors in their discovery of the collections and local heritage: visits, conferences, workshops, publications, field trips, meetings, concerts...
