The exhibition "Mari in Syria: Rebirth of a City in the 3rd Millennium" brings to life one of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Near East, that of Mari, in one of the brightest phases of its long history: the period known as the Shakkanakkus (between 2250 and 1850 BCE). What we know of this city, in the light of the latest archaeological research, sheds a new light on a whole part of the history of this region, cradle of the civilizations of writing. This exceptional event is produced in partnership with the Domaine et Musée royal de Mariemont in Belgium and the Musée du Louvre, which lends more than 140 objects, including twenty major pieces usually exhibited in its own rooms.
