Celebrate the Year of the Snake: Traditions and Festivities at the New Year’s Market
On February 16, 2025, the Chinese Culture Association will organize a Chinese New Year’s Market to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This event will showcase Chinese culture through a series of activities, shows and interactive workshops. Partner associations such as the TZU Jan Kwoon Wushu Academy, the Tao Breath Association and the Peng Bird Association will participate in this event.

- Dragon and Lion Dance: A show that symbolizes luck and prosperity.
- Classical Chinese dance: Traditional dance performances.
- Folk dances: Dances representing different regions of China.
- Traditional songs: Interpretation of Chinese folk songs.
- Chinese opera: Excerpts from traditional Chinese opera.
- Traditional music: Performance of traditional Chinese instruments.
- Children’s dances: Dance performances by children.
- Poetry for children: Reading traditional Chinese poems.
- Traditional martial arts: Demonstrations of kung-fu and martial techniques.
- Tai Chi and Fan Tai Chi: Demonstrations of Tai Chi, including the Tai Chi sword and Fan Tai Chi.
- Hanfu fashion show (Chinese traditional costumes)
Games and entertainment: - Traditional Chinese games: Popular games such as rope shooting, spinning and paddle.
- Raffle: Participate in raffles to win prizes and souvenirs.
- The God of wealth (财 神): Distribution of red envelopes (红 包) and blessings of prosperity.
Culinary specialties:
A food market with Chinese New Year’s specialties such as ravioli, sticky rice balls, noodles, and other traditional dishes.
Workshops and crafts: - Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting: Workshops to discover these traditional arts.
- Craft non-heritage workshop: Traditional handicrafts such as lanterns and decorations typical of the Chinese New Year.
- Chinese tea workshop: Learn the art of the Chinese tea ceremony.
- Ravioli Workshop: Learn how to make traditional Chinese raviolis.
- Sugar drawing workshop (糖 画): Learn how to create sugar drawings, a traditional Chinese art.
