Commemoration
Every year, Villeneuve d'Ascq pays tribute to the 86 victims of the massacre at Ascq, carried out on the night of 1-2 April 1944 by Nazi troops. This tragedy, engraved in the collective memory, symbolizes the price of freedom and the duty to pass on to future generations.

The rally will begin in front of the town hall of Ascq before the departure of the procession to the places of memory: - The Massacre Mound, a place of remembrance in honour of those shot.
- The cemetery of Ascq, where the victims of this tragedy are buried.
- The Fort de Seclin, last place of commemoration of this day of remembrance.
Opening of the Memorial Ascq 1944
Also to know that the Memorial Ascq 1944 will be open on Sunday, April 13 afternoon from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, with a guided tour through the streets of Ascq at 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
The Memorial also offers a question/answer game for children on the history of the Second World War all afternoon.
