Association pour la Sauvegarde du Léman (ASL)

The Association pour la Sauvegarde du Léman (ASL) is organising this event to help you think about and take action on water issues, and is inviting you to discover the tiny organisms living in Lake Geneva. Phytoplankton, zooplankton, macrophytes, crustaceans, molluscs and other larvae form the basis of the food chain, which you will be able to observe and identify using the equipment provided. At the same time, the plastic pollution that threatens these species will be discussed by analysing a sample of sand taken from Baby plage. From the macro to the micro, the fragmentation of plastics in the environment and the damage this can cause to aquatic organisms in Lake Geneva will be discussed, followed by solutions to combat this pollution.

This event takes place on the first Sunday of the month, so it's free and there's no need to register beforehand.

L'Association pour la Sauvegarde du Léman is a Franco-Swiss, scientific, apolitical, not-for-profit association recognised as being in the public interest. It currently has some 4,000 members and volunteers. Its main office is in Geneva. The ASL was set up in 1980 to protect the quality of the water in the Lake Geneva basin, namely that of the rivers and the lake.
