After his remarkable participation in the last Venice Biennale and his recent solo exhibitions at the New Museum in New York, at the Haus der Kunst in Munich and soon at the MOCA in Toronto, Kapwani Kiwanga will invest the great nave of the Capc in 2023 for an original project conceived in relation to the double history of the place, the colonial history until the end of the 19th century, and the history of art from the beginning of the 1970s.
In the context of the celebration of the Capc's fiftieth anniversary, this invitation was an obvious one, since his practice is rooted both in the necessary re-evaluation of colonial history and in a marked interest in the history of minimal forms.

Après sa participation remarquée à la dernière Biennale de Venise et ses récentes expositions personnelles au New Museum de New York, à la Haus der Kunst de Munich et prochainement au MOCA de Toronto, Kapwani Kiwanga investit en 2023 la grande nef du Capc pour un projet inédit pensé en relation avec la double histoire du lieu, l’histoire coloniale jusqu’à la fin du XIXe siècle, et l’histoire de l’art à partir du début des années 1970.
Dans le cadre de la célébration des cinquante ans du Capc, cette invitation relevait de l’évidence, tant sa pratique s’ancre tout à la fois dans la nécessaire réévaluation de l’histoire coloniale, mais également dans un intérêt marqué pour l’histoire des formes minimales.
