Soba
Blues
The blues made the journey from Africa to America. Soba takes the opposite path. He brings the blues back to its homeland, where the Mandinka Empire reigned as early as the 13th century, where its roots still resonate.
Moussa Koita on vocals and guitar, drawing on his Burkinabé melodies. Vincent Bucher, one of Europe’s greatest blues harmonica players, who soars and surprises with every measure. Émile Biayenda, co-founder of Les Tambours de Brazza, whose percussion lightens the blues and makes it dance.
Blues and Mandinka harmonies intertwine until they become one. A trio born of a shared family heritage—the blues—yet far from being pigeonholed into that category.
A gem.
The Soba concert is being presented in place of Imarhan, who is still listed in the printed program. We apologize for this change and thank you for your understanding.
