OCTOBER LEBANON by Camille Ammoun
Concert performance by Clément Cadinot (voice) & Florian Demonsant (accordion)
La Cave Po’ continues its Mediterranean journey, with a final stop in Lebanon. We begin with a reading and an encounter with the work of Camille Ammoun. On August 4, 2020, at 6:07 p.m., an explosion blows through Beirut, leaving the city bloodless. This is the ultimate manifestation of the incompetence and corruption of the Lebanese political class. Yet, a few months ago, Lebanon experienced a period of senseless hope, a revolution.
To write Octobre Liban, Camille Ammoun surveyed Beirut in revolt. He describes the squares, the improvised stands where ideas are agitated, but also points out the signs that led to this movement and then to disaster.
