Monumentale Skulptur, die zwischen 2015 und 2016 vom palästinensischen Künstler Shareef Sarhan am Kreisverkehr des Hafens von Gaza errichtet wurde: LIGHTHOUSE, ein leuchtendes Werk, das auf einer Basis für das Recycling von Kriegsrückständen aus Gaza errichtet wurde, wurde in situ geschaffen. unter Beteiligung von Ingenieuren und jungen Künstlern aus Gaza. Nachdem er diesen öffentlichen Raum einige Jahre lang beleuchtet hatte, wurde er 2023 plötzlich von einem Panzer der israelischen Armee zerstört.
Im Rahmen seiner Residenz in der Cité des arts de la rue und begleitet von den Strukturen Lieux Publics, L'Échelle und den Ateliers Sud Side hat sich Shareef Sarhan zum Ziel gesetzt, LIGHTHOUSE wieder aufzubauen.
RE-LIGHTHOUSE ist also ein Projekt für eine visuelle Kunstinstallation, die über Städte und Grenzen hinausgeht. Es beginnt im Hafen von Gaza, reist nach Marseille und durchquert dann Frankreich und Europa und nimmt mit sich das kollektive Gedächtnis einer belagerten Stadt und deren ästhetische Fantasie des Widerstands.
Laut dem Künstler: "Der Leuchtturm definiert die Schönheit in einer Stadt, die um ihr Überleben kämpft, neu und verwandelt die Werkzeuge der Zerstörung in eine Bildsprache, die eine Botschaft der Hoffnung und Widerstandsfähigkeit vermittelt - die Darstellung eines inneren Lichts in längerer Dunkelheit."
Als das Objekt eines zu verteidigenden Werkes gedacht, wird RE-LIGHTHOUSE zu einem unzerstörbaren Gerät, das von Stadt zu Stadt immer wieder neu geboren wird.
Im Anschluss an die Ausstellung von RE-LIGHTHOUSE in Marseille im Rahmen der Veranstaltung Saison Méditerranée 2026 und um das Werk möglichst vielen zum Leben zu erwecken, wird eine Tour durch Frankreich und Europa durchgeführt, bevor es nach Gaza zurückkehrt. Zu diesem Zweck ist die Skulptur so konstruiert, dass sie demontierbar/wiederherstellbar ist, damit sie leicht transportiert und wieder aktiviert werden kann.
Wenn diese Skulptur über die palästinensische Situation im weiteren Sinne spricht, zeugt sie von einer Reflexion über die demokratischen und territorialen Herausforderungen, die universelle Themen unserer zeitgenössischen Gesellschaften sind.
RE-LIGHTHOUSE wird in der Produktion unterstützt, insbesondere von ACROSS BORDERS, dem internationalen Produktions- und Verbreitungszentrum, getragen von Lieux Publics, L'Atelline, Le Cratère und FAI AR.

Monumental sculpture built between 2015 and 2016 by the Palestinian artist Shareef Sarhan on the roundabout of the Port of Gaza, LIGHTHOUSE, a luminous work built on a recycling base of war debris from Gaza, was realized in situ, involving the participation of engineers and young Gazan artists. After illuminating this public space for a few years, it was suddenly destroyed by an Israeli army tank in 2023.
As part of his residency at the Cité des arts de la rue and accompanied by the structures Lieux Publics, L'Échelle and the Ateliers Sud Side, Shareef Sarhan has set himself the goal of rebuilding LIGHTHOUSE.
RE-LIGHTHOUSE, therefore, is a visual art installation project that transcends cities and borders. It begins at the port of Gaza, travels to Marseille before traveling through France and Europe, taking with him the collective memory of a besieged city and its aesthetic imaginary of resistance.
According to the artist: "the Lighthouse redefines beauty in a city struggling for its survival, transforming tools of destruction into a visual language conveying a message of hope and resilience, the representation of an inner light in prolonged darkness.”
Conceived as the object of a work to be defended, RE-LIGHTHOUSE becomes an indestructible device that will never cease to be reborn from city to city.
Following the exhibition of RE-LIGHTHOUSE in Marseille as part of the Saison Méditerranée 2026 event, and in order to bring the work to life for as many people as possible, a tour was organized throughout France and Europe before returning to Gaza. To this end, the sculpture is constructed so as to be demountable/remountable in order to be easily transportable and reactivatable.
If this sculpture speaks of the Palestinian situation, more broadly, it reflects a reflection on democratic and territorial issues that are universal subjects in our contemporary societies.

Nell'ambito della sua residenza alla Cité des arts de la rue e accompagnato dalle strutture Lieux Publics, L'Échelle e gli Ateliers Sud Side, Shareef Sarhan si è posto l'obiettivo di ricostruire LIGHTHOUSE.
RE-LIGHTHOUSE, quindi, è un progetto di installazione artistica visiva che trascende città e confini. Inizia dal porto di Gaza, viaggia fino a Marsiglia prima di attraversare la Francia e l'Europa portando con sé la memoria collettiva di una città assediata e il suo immaginario estetico di resistenza.
Secondo l'artista: "il Faro ridefinisce la bellezza in una città che lotta per la sopravvivenza, trasformando gli strumenti di distruzione in un linguaggio visivo che trasmette un messaggio di speranza e resilienza, la rappresentazione di una luce interiore in un buio prolungato."
Pensato come l'oggetto di un'opera da difendere, RE-LIGHTHOUSE diventa un dispositivo indistruttibile che non smetterà di rinascere di città in città.
In seguito all'esposizione di RE-LIGHTHOUSE a Marsiglia nell'ambito dell'evento Saison Méditerranée 2026, e per far vivere l'opera al maggior numero possibile di persone, viene organizzato un tour attraverso la Francia e l'Europa prima di tornare a Gaza. A tal fine, la scultura è costruita in modo da essere smontabile/rimontabile per essere facilmente trasportabile e riattivabile.
Se questa scultura parla della situazione palestinese, più in generale, testimonia una riflessione sulle sfide democratiche e territoriali che sono temi universali delle nostre società contemporanee.

Sculpture monumentale construite entre 2015 et 2016 par l’artiste palestinien Shareef Sarhan sur le rond-point du Port de Gaza, LIGHTHOUSE, œuvre lumineuse construite sur une base de recyclage de débris de guerre de Gaza, a été réalisée in situ, impliquant la participation d’ingénieurs et de jeunes artistes gazaouis. Après avoir illuminé cet espace public durant quelques années, il est subitement détruit par un char de l’armée Israélienne en 2023.

RE-LIGHTHOUSE, donc, est un projet d’installation artistique visuelle qui transcende les villes et les frontières. Cela commence au port de Gaza, voyage jusqu’à Marseille avant de parcourir la France et l’Europe, emportant avec lui la mémoire collective d’une ville assiégée et son imaginaire esthétique de résistance.

Comienza en el puerto de Gaza, viaja hasta Marsella antes de recorrer Francia y Europa, llevándose consigo la memoria colectiva de una ciudad asediada y su imaginario estético de resistencia.

Tras la exposición de RE-LIGHTHOUSE en Marsella, como parte del evento Temporada Mediterránea 2026, y con el fin de hacer que la obra se viva para el mayor número posible, se realiza una gira por Francia y Europa antes de regresar a Gaza. Con este fin, la escultura está construida de manera que sea desmontable/remontable para ser fácilmente transportable y reactivable.
Si esta escultura habla de la situación palestina, más en general, da testimonio de una reflexión sobre los desafíos democráticos y territoriales que son temas universales de nuestras sociedades contemporáneas.
