The mansion in which the ARA association is located has known several lives. Partly included in the additional inventory of historical monuments, it was built for Les Prouvost, a large family of textile manufacturers, on the model of Parisian mansions in vogue at the end of the 18th century. Then it passed into the hands of the Vichy government, which turned it into a police station. The association ARA - Autour des Rythmes Actuels, which has lived in it since 1993, aims to promote and support the development of the practices of contemporary music by bringing together musicians, musicophiles and pedagogues – all trained and all formative around three key values: equality of opportunity, collective spirit and respect for cultures.
