The town of Blaye has a rich heritage of 18th century houses, some of which, because of their importance and decor, are similar to the characteristics of the private mansion. The proposed visit consists of an urban stroll to discover some of the most important of these houses and the history of their former owners, often belonging to the middle of the merchants of Blayais.

Located on a rocky promontory overlooking the Gironde estuary, Blaye has always been considered a strategic place giving it an undeniable military role throughout the ages. Today, the city, which hosts industrial and commercial activities, develops its tourist activity, thanks to its historical heritage recently classified by UNESCO, but also by its location in the heart of a renowned vineyard.
