The Aygalades waterfall, located on the property of the Falque Castle, was invested by the Marseilles bourgeoisie of the 19th century. The house was demolished in the 1940s during the construction of the A7 motorway. The stream was gradually relegated to the status of a sanitation network and saw its access forbidden, its natural bed channeled and abused. His presence disappeared from the collective memory of Marseilles. Or almost... Today, the qualities of this waterway make it a singular challenge for the urban development of Marseille, like the Euromed 2 project which has revealed its potential, by planning to re-open the Aygalades stream from Billoux park to Arenc. A desire for natural heritage revealed The rediscovery of this exceptional site has launched a collective dynamic around this heritage space, both with the populations, social actors, cultural operators and with local associations and businesses.
