Château et jardins royaux d’Amboise
Montée de l'Emir-Abd-el-Kader, 37400 Amboise
- Indre-et-Loire
- Centre-Val de Loire
As for the history of the castle itself, the founding element of the gardens lies in the topography of the site. If the function of the panorama and the overview of the site, is today what makes its strength, it used to allow to dominate the city and the surroundings, to create a breath. The site was modelled over the centuries following historical trends and hazards. Upon accession to the throne of Louis-Philippe in 1830, the castle and its indissociable gardens joined the list of royal residences before their classification as historical monuments in 1840 and their protection in 1913\. This status invites us to think of the garden in its historical dimension but also in its temporality, which requires its own management methods.
Labeled «Remarkable Garden», the landscape setting of the Château d'Amboise is fully in line with the actions aimed at the protection of fauna and flora. Preserving this living space requires the implementation of respectful environmental practices involving
