Sunday, June 2 from 14h to 18h, you are cordially invited to come and discover, or rediscover the garden of the old castle of Peipin, where remains the chapel of the thirteenth and sixteenth centuries completely restored for some years.
This very particular garden, located at the top of the hill, in the heart of the old village, is actually the old inner courtyard of the castle; where the lords and their servants once lived sheltered from attacks and in some form of autarky. This explains the presence of an important natural water reserve, an old underground room where animals could be kept, a dovecote with an underground room, but probably also other rooms that remain to be discovered, to allow the storage of food.
Today, as a pleasure garden, it allows us to develop our five senses. First with the view, this platform lined with walls dominates indeed all the surroundings, hearing, with a large concentration of birds varying according to the seasons, the touch, with the presence of century-old trees (chestnuts, lime trees, olive trees, holm oaks and pubescents,) whose more or less rough trunks, covered or not with lychens, mosses, allow to feel these amazing mini reliefs, the smell, with according to the seasons of plants, such as thyme, rosemary, the garlic of the bears, the sariette, the dandelion, the broom, the flowers of linden which diffuse their perfumes in a way sometimes very strong. These plants are also edible, with the few fruits present (almonds, apricots, strawberries) and allow to develop the fifth sense which is the taste.
A nice journey through our five senses
in a garden full of history(s).
