Monasterial gardens belong to the oldest kind of historic parks and gardens also on the territory of Bratislava. The history of the Franciscan order in our city goes to the half of the 13th century when they established their early Gothic church and monastery here. This Franciscan church was consecrated in 1291 during the presence of the Hungarian king Ondrej III. Également l'monasterial jardin belonged to the complex of Franciscan church and monastery. After the year 1291, the Gothic town with the city walls was created. Franciscan monastery with the church and garden were included in the Gothic town. We do not have any written evidence from the early Middle Ages how gardens looked like at that time. According to some old documents we know that in 1457 the big repair of the stone fence took place.
