An Early Music Concert can be enjoyed in Mõntu Park in th frame of the Rendez-vous-aux-jardins 2024 at midday on 1 June. Musician Eva Mitreikina will perform on diffrent musical instruments, the audience is welcome to dance along! Mõntu park is a protected site due to its rich fauna and flora. The park is home to rare species like Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (Dryobates minor) and the Northern Bat. Plants and bushes that normally do not survive in the harsh cold winters and stormy autumns of Estonia, feel quite relaxed in Mõntu Park. In addition, the park is known for its rich cultural heritage. Visitors are kindly asked to retrain from making loud noise during the nesting time of birds.

Mõntu is the most species-rich park on the island Saaremaa. It is home to the oldest trees on the island - the fir. Vistors are invited to learn about the history of Mõntu Manor and the old school.
Mõntu is a nature protection park with a rich variety of plants and trees. It is home to the oldest trees on Saaremaa - the fir (Albies alba). Visitors can admire old rare trees like the Pennsilvanian ash (Fraxinus pensylvanica), the pyramid oak (Quercus robus "Fastigata"), and also giant linden (Tilia), oaks (Quercus), alder (Alnus glutinosa) and whitebeam (Sorbus intermedia). The park once was part of Mõntu Manor, completely destroyed in the II World War. Single apple trees have survived and the histoirc alley leading to the manor is still tracable. From 1923 to 1941 a school operated in the houses of Mõntu Manor, now there is a memorial stone reminding us of this period.
Mõntu park is open to visitors around the clock. On 5 June guided walks will be organised, introducing both the natural and cultural heritage - the histroy of Mõntu Manor and the school. The bravehearted are invited to explore the underground galleries that accommodated the 127 mm coastal defence cannons at the times of the war. Splendid views open from the high seabanks of Mõntu.
