The Perron site in Oullins-Pierre-Bénite is located in a dominant and strategic position on the eastern end of the Massif Central: the last granite block of this massif was the famous «Pierre Bénite» to which the sailors of the Rhône could moor and which gave its name to the city. The site includes two historic buildings built between 1520 and 1580: the Grand Perron (private property that can be seen from the outside) and the Petit Perron, property of the Fondation Renaud. It is the Florentine banker Antoine Gondi and his wife, Marie Catherine de Pierrevive, who in 1520 bought in Perron many lands, castle and farms.
