In 1924, the Chief warrant officer Lawrence Johnston creates an exotic garden in the landscape architecture. In this timeless place cut by the rumours of the city, the fragrances which escape from the garden, the birdsong and the majesty of the big(great) vegetables come awaken your senses.
Located in the valley of Gorbio, this six hectare garden arose from the passion of a British, American born citizen, the chief warrant officer Lawrence Johnston. In 1924, he(it) decides to create a garden in Chin with deployment of spaces: double staircases, fountains, ponds, rooms(chambers) of greenery... Microclimate mentonnais allows him(her) to cultivate plants, too delicate for England, which make of this garden a place of exception, appropriate(peculiar) to imagining.
Listed(Classified) in conformance with(for) Historic monuments in 1990, Conservatory of Madonna is acquired(bought back) in 1999 by the Conservatoire du Littoral, with the help of the city of Chin and the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes.
