At the Abbey of Flaran, next to the listed buildings and exhibitions, there are also 3 hectares of park and gardens that you can discover, in a preserved natural environment on the edge of Baïse. Within the site, the monastic garden was redeveloped in the 18th century as a «French style» pleasure garden. The most important is the garden of the simple or herbularius which houses, in chestnut plessis, the medicinal plants formerly used by the monks. In front of it, in the garden or hortus area, are grown on flowerbeds of small fruit trees, vegetable plants and vine in stilts. The last part is devoted to the orchard or viridarium. Near the vegetable garden, an area of meadow mowed once a year preserves the biodiversity of the site which also hosts hives, insect hotel and nest boxes. Nearby, the school garden allows to develop educatio
