Formerly located in the Belleville-en-Beaujolais Hospital Centre, the Jardin de Simples was inaugurated in 2019 on the Hôtel-Dieu site thanks to the work of the Albarelle association. Located in the courtyard of Saint Antoine de l'Hôtel-Dieu, this garden consists of ten massifs that present the plants formerly cultivated and used by the Sisters of Saint Marthe, plants grouped by virtues: febrifuges, tonics, depuratives, painkillers... A massif reminds us that lettuce, tansy, absinthe, peach leaves... were part of the composition of the vermifuge mixture or famous Belleville syrup that treated in children: whooping cough, convulsions and worms, until 1962.
