Musée d'art et d'histoire de Meudon
11 rue des Pierres 92190 Meudon
- Hauts-de-Seine
- Île-de-France
The Meudon Museum of Art and History is housed in the oldest house in Meudon, which belonged to Armande Béjart, actress and widow of Molière. She kept this country house until her death in 1700\. After having known various occupants, the house is classified in 1891 as historical monuments and becomes in 1943 a museum. The museum presents the history of Meudon through various paintings, engravings, sculptures, and models. It also houses an important collection of landscape painting from the 18th to the 20th century as well as a set of sculptures from the 1940s to the 1980s. A haven of peace and greenery in the heart of the city, the museum garden is also a place to exhibit ancient and contemporary sculptures. Adorned with centuries-old trees, boxwood, roses, and even a vineyard, it invites you to walk and relax.
