The Chavaniac-Lafayette Castle Park has preserved four of the many landscaping features that characterized it during the 20th century: the main courtyard and the immediate surroundings of the castle, the conifer wood, the arboretum (in the centre of the park) and the rose garden.
With nearly a hundred species of trees and shrubs including many North American species, the park has beautiful old plants: Vancouver firs, red chestnut trees, Atlas cedars, Lawson cypress, bald cypress, red and swamp oaks, ginkgo, purple beech, metasequoias, walnut and black walnut, white mulberry, white cedar… Among them, the three-century-old Lafayette Oak and the Moon Tree are of particular historical interest.
The paths and the surroundings of the castle are coloured by the seasons of abundant blooms and astonishing foliage. Winemakers, baguenaudiers, Judean trees, boxwood topiaries, dogwood, cottonwoods, charcoal, hibiscus, mahonia, seringats, sumacs, sorbaires, spires, lilacs, viornes, azaleas and rhodo
