ESTREE DE SAINT-PIERRE
Conservation of an endangered species in Northern Martinique presented by the National Botanical Conservatory of Martinique
Polygala antillensis is a shamephyte of the family Polygalaceae, endemic to the island of Martinique. It is commonly known as Estrée de Saint-Pierre.
Little information is available on this species before the eruption of Mount Pelee in 1902 (Martinique volcano). Currently, this species is considered “critically endangered”.
The conference will be followed by the planting of a plot of this species on the CDST site in order to monitor its evolution.
