South of the city, wedged between the stream along the fortifications, the Faulbach spanned by a small wooden bridge, and the base of the rampart, the medieval garden is surprisingly reminiscent of those that can be seen in a late fifteenth century copy of the Honorary Stay of Octavian of Saint-Gelais. Well adapted to the restricted space of the site, this garden unfolds in length and responds, in its simplicity, to what the historian can expect from such an evocation.
