To mark the European Heritage Days, Wesserling Park invites you to discover its history, industrial heritage, and the people working today to preserve it in a whole new way.
Throughout the day, take advantage of meetings, talks, and discussions to dive into the heart of Wesserling's history and the region's industrial heritage.
Program:
11:00 am - 12:30 pm + 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Ferme Patronale): Demonstrations of sheep's wool carding and vertical loom weaving.
Presented by the "Ferme du Kolben" from Mittlach, featuring a stand with wool-based products.
2:00 pm - 6:00 pm (Ferme Patronale): The role of the Fondation du Patrimoine in preserving and rehabilitating sites and buildings: a focus on Wesserling.
Discover the mission of the Fondation du Patrimoine through discussions with Claude Mongars, departmental delegate for the foundation, and Nadège Galbourdin, head of heritage at the Wesserling Ecomuseum.
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm (Ferme Patronale): Living memory in the presence of Paul Boeglin, a former textile worker at Wesserling for twenty years.
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Exhibition Room at the Grande Chaufferie): Wesserling's Boiler House versus the Chalampé power plant example.
Exchange ideas with the former technical manager and the team from the Energy Production Center Chalampé.
3:00 pm - 3:45 pm (Château Group Room): Humanism and paternalism in Wesserling during the 19th and 20th centuries.
A discussion on the social and industrial history of Wesserling, with Marc Ritzenthaler (curator of the temporary exhibition dedicated to the bicentennial of the Mulhouse Industrial Society and Vice-President of the Dollfus, Mieg & Koechlin Family Museum) and Nadège Galbourdin (head of heritage at the Wesserling Ecomuseum).
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm (1st floor of the Château): Presentation of regional industries around 1850.
Meet Pierre Fluck, honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France, Doctor of Science, Professor Emeritus, and Knight of the Legion of Honor. Then attend a mini-lecture in the group room at 4:15 pm, followed by a book signing in the Turbine Room shop starting at 5:15 pm.
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm (Turbine Room): Mini-conference and discussions on industrial heritage.
A discussion between François Tacquard, president of the management and events association of Wesserling Park, and Simon Edelblutte, associate professor at the University of Lorraine, featuring specific site examples.
