Was haben ein prähistorischer Feuersteinsplitter, eine antike Austernschale, eine zeitgenössische Dose und der Helm von König Karl VI. gemeinsam? Sie sind alle zu Abfall geworden, wertvolle Informationsquellen für die Archäologen. Die Ausstellung behandelt auf zugängliche Weise die Entwicklung der Abfallerzeugung und -bewirtschaftung und deren Auswirkungen auf die menschliche Gesellschaft. Die archäologischen Funde zeigen, wie im Laufe der Zeit Abfälle erzeugt, verarbeitet und verwertet wurden und wie sie heute von Archäologen zum Sprechen gebracht werden.

What is the common point between a shard of prehistoric flint, an antique oyster shell, a contemporary tin can and the helmet of King Charles VI? They have all become waste, sources of valuable information for archaeologists. The exhibition covers, in an accessible way, the evolution of waste production and management and what this means for human societies. The archaeological findings illustrate how, over time, waste has been produced, processed and valued and how archaeologists now take it in order to make it talk.

Qual è il punto in comune tra un frammento di selce preistorico, una conchiglia d'ostrica antica, una lattina contemporanea e l'elmo del re Carlo VI? Sono tutti diventati rifiuti, fonti di informazioni preziose per gli archeologi. L'esposizione affronta, in modo accessibile, l'evoluzione della produzione e della gestione dei rifiuti e ciò che questo dice delle società umane. Le scoperte archeologiche mostrano come, nel corso del tempo, i rifiuti sono stati prodotti, trattati e valorizzati e come gli archeologi li prendono oggi per farli parlare.

Quel est le point commun entre un éclat de silex préhistorique, une coquille d’huître antique, une boite de conserve contemporaine et le casque du roi Charles VI ? Ils sont tous devenus des déchets, sources d’informations précieuses pour les archéologues. L’exposition aborde, de manière accessible, l’évolution de la production et de la gestion des déchets puis ce que cela dit des sociétés humaines. Les découvertes archéologiques illustrent comment, au cours du temps, les déchets ont été produits, traités et valorisés et comment les archéologues s’en emparent aujourd’hui pour les faire parler.

Todos ellos se han convertido en desechos, fuentes de información valiosa para los arqueólogos. La exposición aborda, de manera accesible, la evolución de la producción y la gestión de los residuos y lo que esto significa para las sociedades humanas. Los hallazgos arqueológicos ilustran cómo, a lo largo del tiempo, se han producido, procesado y valorizado los residuos y cómo los arqueólogos se apoderan hoy de ellos para hacerlos hablar.
