Das Mittelmeer ist eine Zwischengeographie, zwischen mehreren Ufern, mehreren Identitäten, mehreren Sprachen. Aber auch zwischen den Versprechungen der Revolutionen und ihren Nachfolgen, die zerren, zwischen den Exiln und den Rückkehrern, den Kriegen und den Neuanfängen.
Für viele ist dieses Zwischen-zwei kein bloßer Durchgang, sondern eine Art und Weise, die Welt zu bewohnen, ein Raum ohne stabile Grundlage, in dem das Verhältnis zur Zeit verschwimmt, in dem das Provisorische dauerhaft wird, in dem die Zukunft schwer vorstellbar ist, anders als als als Wiederholung oder Bruch. Weder ganz hier, noch schon anderswo, noch völlig in der Katastrophe, noch wirklich im Nachhinein, in diesem "klaren Dunkel, in dem die Monster auftauchen können".
Wie soll man leben, wenn nie etwas endgültig gesichert scheint? Was bedeutet es, den Krieg zu bewohnen, wenn alles zu schwanken scheint? Wie werden zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen (familiär, romantisch oder freundschaftlich), individuelle Zugehörigkeiten und Erzählungen in der Unsicherheit (wieder) gedacht und (wieder) zusammengesetzt? Wie kann man ein Denken, ein Werk oder eine Verpflichtung aufbauen, ohne der Verzweiflung oder der Nostalgie nachzugeben?

The Mediterranean is a geography of the in-between, between several shores, several identities, several languages. But also between the promises of revolutions and their disappointing aftermath, between exiles and returns, wars and new beginnings.
For many, this in-between is not a simple passage, but a way of inhabiting the world, a space without stable foundation, where the relationship to time becomes blurred, where the temporary becomes permanent, where the future is difficult to imagine other than as repetition or rupture. Neither fully here, nor already elsewhere, nor totally in the disaster, nor really in the after, in this "obscure light in which monsters can arise".
How to live when nothing seems ever definitively acquired? What does it mean to live in war, when everything seems to be faltering? How are interpersonal relationships (family, love or friendship), individual affiliations and narratives (re)thought and composed in uncertainty? How to construct a thought, a work or a commitment, without giving way neither to despair nor to nostalgia?

Il Mediterraneo è una geografia dell'intermezzo, tra più sponde, più identità, più lingue. Ma anche tra le promesse delle rivoluzioni e i loro posteri che disintegrano, tra gli esili e i ritorni, le guerre e i riaccendi.
Per molti, questo intermezzo non è un semplice passaggio, ma un modo di abitare il mondo, uno spazio senza fondamenta stabili, dove il rapporto con il tempo si offusca, dove il provvisorio diventa permanente, dove il futuro è difficile da immaginare se non come ripetizione o rottura. Né pienamente qui, né altrove, né totalmente nella catastrofe, né veramente nel dopo, in quel "chiaro oscuro in cui possono emergere i mostri".
Come vivere quando niente sembra mai definitivamente acquisito? Cosa significa vivere in guerra, quando tutto sembra vacillare? In che modo le relazioni interpersonali (familiari, amorose o amichevoli), le appartenenze individuali e i racconti si (ri)pensano e si (ri)compongono nell'incertezza? Come costruire un pensiero, un'opera o un impegno senza cedere né alla disperazione né alla nostalgia?

Comment construire une pensée, une oeuvre ou un engagement, sans céder ni au désespoir ni à la nostalgie ?

Para muchos, este entre-dos no es un simple pasaje, sino una manera de habitar el mundo, un espacio sin cimientos estables, donde la relación con el tiempo se desvanece, donde lo provisional se vuelve permanente, donde el futuro es difícil de imaginar como algo más que repetición o ruptura. Ni plenamente aquí, ni ya en otra parte, ni totalmente en la catástrofe, ni realmente en el después, en ese "claro oscuro en el que pueden surgir los monstruos".
¿Cómo vivir cuando nada parece definitivamente adquirido? ¿Qué significa habitar la guerra, cuando todo parece vacilar? ¿Cómo se (re)piensan y se (re)componen las relaciones interpersonales (familiares, amorosas o amistosas), las pertenencias individuales y los relatos en medio de la incertidumbre? ¿Cómo construir un pensamiento, una obra o un compromiso sin ceder ni a la desesperación ni a la nostalgia?
