Diese aussergewöhnliche Ausstellung vereint herausragende Werke, darunter einige, die noch nie ausgestellt worden sind, eines emblematischen Paares der Arte Povera: Marisa Merz (1926-2019) und Mario Merz (1925-2003). Das Event, das gemeinsam mit der Stiftung Merz (Turin) konzipiert worden ist, zeigt der Öffentlichkeit die extreme intellektuelle und schöpferische Nähe, die zwischen diesen beiden Künstlern herrscht.
Während für Marisa die Kunst ein Mittel war, die Grenzen zwischen der Wirklichkeit und unserer Phantasie zu sprengen, wurde Mario nicht müde, an die Fragilität unserer Verankerung in der Natur zu erinnern. Beide haben uns dazu gebracht, uns vorzustellen, dass die Kunst die Umrisse der Spiegel zeigt, die wir allzu häufig zwischen uns und die Welt stellen. Die poetische Bedeutung dieser Botschaft lässt die Gegenwart in einem noch grausameren Licht erscheinen.

The Rath Museum hosts an exhibition dedicated to the work of the Merz couple

This special exhibition brings together major works, some unknown, by an emblematic couple of Arte Povera: Marisa Merz (1926-2019) and Mario Merz (1925-2003). Conceived with the Merz Foundation (Turin), the event will allow the public to understand the deep intellectual and creative interconnection between the two artists.
While for Marisa, art was a means of bringing down the barrier between reality and our fictions of intimacy, Mario continuously recalled the fragility of our integration into nature. Together, they incited us to imagine that art reveals the contours of the mirrors we too often place between ourselves and the world. The poetic reach of this message renders current events all the more cruel.

Le Musée Rath accueille une exposition dédiée à l'œuvre du couple Merz

Cette exposition exceptionnelle réunit des œuvres majeures, dont certaines inédites, d’un couple emblématique de l’Arte Povera : Marisa Merz (1926-2019) et Mario Merz (1925-2003). Conçu avec le concours de la Fondation Merz (Turin), l’évènement permettra au public de percevoir l’extrême proximité intellectuelle et créative entre les deux artistes.
Si, pour Marisa, l’art a été un moyen de faire sauter le verrou entre le réel et notre imaginaire de l’intime, Mario n’a eu de cesse de rappeler la fragilité de notre inscription dans la nature. À eux deux, ils nous ont incités à imaginer que l’art fait percevoir les contours des miroirs que nous posons trop souvent entre nous-mêmes et le monde. La portée poétique de ce message rend l’actualité d’autant plus cruelle.
