Animals at the service and expense of books

Festival Histoire et Cité
Vendredi 4 avril, 12h15
Bibliothèque de Genève

What is the relationship between heritage books and the animal world? During this visit, we'll explore the life cycle of an antique book, from its manufacture from animal products to its degradation by parasites and other small animals. We'll then discover how conservation and restoration techniques enable us to preserve our written heritage over the long term. An opportunity to question our utilitarian relationship with the animal world.

Speaker: Lucas Arpin
Duration: 45 mn
