The Bibliothèque de Genève offers a journey back to the not-so-distant past, when smoking was displayed on the streets of our cities as a healthy and cool practice that brought men and women together. With the help of millions of francs, prestigious agencies and renowned graphic designers, the cigarette industry has established itself in the collective imagination through advertising. How did the associations and groups involved in the prevention of tobacco-related illnesses work, with asymmetrical means, to limit, and then ban, such advertising in the streets of Geneva?
An unfiltered exhibition that unfolds a century of posters, now banned in public spaces. A proposal that offers, as a counterpoint to posters made to sell, the reality of the struggle for public health.
