This year, the Centre de la photographie de Mougins gives carte blanche to Éric Oberdorff of the Compagnie Humaine for the European Night of Museums.

My dream life

Resonating with the exhibition «Amexica» by Marie Baronnet where «photography is a battlefield» and the bodies are engaged in a fight between the impulses of life and death, the solo «My dream life» explores personal utopias, these unfinished dreams that a being can feed without succeeding in realizing them. He thus evokes the confinement that each of us can experience in our own body and the possible liberation through dance as catharsis, in resistance to the reflex of withdrawal on ourselves. Inspired by the body states observed in prison, muscular and joint tensions inscribed on these bodies by rugged life paths, the choreographer Éric Oberdorff favors a nervous, precise writing, alternating phases of fragmentations of movement, abandonment, discouragement, with highlights based on taking up space and intense energy.
Luc Bénard / dancer
A graduate of the Conservatoire national supérieur musique et danse de Lyon, Luc first dances at the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève where he works with choreographers such as Michel Kéléménis, Joëlle Bouvier, Benjamin Millepied, Malou Airaudo, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Saburo Teshigawara, Gilles Jobin, Andonis Foniadakis, Éric Oberdorff, Cisko Aznar, Francesca Lattuada, etc. After a one-year break studying kung fu in China, he became a freelance artist and collaborated with choreographers Laurence Yadi and Nicolas Cantillon (Cie 7273) and Michel Kéléménis (Kéléménis & Cie). He has been working with the Human Company since 2013.
Sarah Procissi / musician
Composer and musician Sarah Procissi shares her life between Marseille and her native Corsica. Mixing electro-acoustic music and acoustic instrument (oud), she works from the original sound materials she composes, to which she adds recordings of type «field recording». Sarah creates compositions for dance in France and abroad. She is currently a musician in the bands Clameurs (oud and double bass), Zoï (laptop, electronics & guitar) and HHH (trio of synthesizers, ambient). She also plays as a oudist in various projects.
Éric Oberdorff
A French dancer, choreographer, director and director, Éric Oberdorff discovered movement through martial arts. After studying dance, he travelled the world for sixteen years as a dancer. In 2002, he founded the Human Company with which he created interdisciplinary projects for the stage and for the screen integrating choreography, music, image, text, plastic installation. He accompanies his creative work through multiple actions with a special attention to the young and to people in situations of social fragility. Since 2021, Éric has been associated with Scène 55 (Mougins). Regularly invited to create choreographies and productions by prestigious houses in France and abroad, his works receive numerous international awards.

The exhibition «Amexica: Marie Baronnet»

Between 2009 and 2019, French photographer Marie Baronnet (born 1972, lives and works in Los Angeles) documents the border between Mexico and the United States, revealing a conflict that tears communities apart.

À propos du lieu

Centre de la photographie de Mougins
43 rue de l'Église, 06250
  • Alpes-Maritimes
  • Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The Mougins Center of Photography is an institution dedicated to still and moving images, tasked with promoting and exhibiting the many trends in contemporary photography. Open to all forms of photographic modernity, the Center, as a municipal institution, boosts the cultural and tourism sector of the town of Mougins, seeking to enhance the region and foster international communication. It has the mission of supporting creation and experimentations by artists, both French and foreign, emerging and established. This support takes the form of production, exhibition, publishing and an artist residency.
With 330 square meters of usable space, the building’s three-level layout encompasses reception and information areas, exhibition and meeting spaces. Other locales in the village of Mougins fill supplementary functions vital to the proper running of the Center of Photography: administration, storage, artist residency, educational workshops and documentation center.
The program choices are guided solely by the principle of connection to reality through a selection of powerful and timely subjects, with respect for gender equality and proper recognition of women photographers, constantly alert and on the lookout for non-European expression. This desire, this ambition, calls for the devoted application of measures and actions to facilitate the diffusion of contemporary art.
