Felix Mendelssohn is a composer like no other. He is first of all one of the few musicians whose life has been genuinely happy. An early genius, his youthful journeys inspired him to the superb Grotte de Fingal, or the prodigious Symphonie n°4 called «Italien», a torrent of melodies and irresistible rhythms. To interpret the later Violin Concerto No. 2, David Grimal also asserts himself as a violinist and conductor unlike any other. From his bow, the musician imagines a form of collective direction, where the musicians of the orchestra listen to each other as in a large chamber music ensemble.
