For its 33rd edition, the Mouans-Sartoux book festival will put comic books in the spotlight by proposing a brand new dedicated space.
The festival welcomes every year about twenty authors and comic illustrators. Establishing itself for many years on two spaces - space Literature-BD and Youth - 2020 will aim the creation of a new space hosting the entire comic book, for all ages and all kinds.
Bédéphiles, amateurs and neophytes can find or discover all the albums present on the festival and meet the guest authors.
On the program: interviews, dedications, school meetings, games, lithography, exchanges with all the actors of the book chain (authors, illustrators, publishers, booksellers...)
General presentation
The book festival of Mouans-Sartoux is 3 days of festivities, exhibitions, cinema, meetings, music, live shows, on a space of 8,000 m². The whole village and a team of 270 motivated mobilize to welcome artists and visitors! A place of lively exchange and free expression, this eclectic, popular, demanding and citizen festival is renowned for the freedom of the voices that express themselves, the fervour of its 60,000 visitors, the place given to the expression of words and ideas, from novel to song, through movies and comic books.
For 32 years, the richness of programming has been the highlight of the event. Always strong and relevant meetings, respectful dedication to the comfort of authors and the pleasure of visitors, Eco-friendly snack bars with a zero plastic goal and awareness of sorting and recycling to ensure a clean space and a mimum of environmental impact. A strong commitment to gender equality, climate and more generally respect for everyone, for a Humanist Festival.
Eager to feed, develop, or give young people a taste for books, the Mouans-Sartoux Book Festival offers programming adapted to students from kindergarten to high school. Fifteen days before the event, artists meet students in their schools. Then, on Friday of the festival, classes travel to Mouans-Sartoux to benefit from this program: interviews, workshop (writing, initiation to illustration, sensory...), screening-meetings, conferences, theatre, orchestra rehearsal with commentary... All the activities are completely free, offered by the book festival with the Pays de Grasse agglomeration community, the CCAS (Caisse centrale d'activités sociales) and the DAAC (Academic Delegation for Arts and Culture).
The festival of the book of Mouans-Sartoux is renewed by the theme that guides part of the programming, among which "Beyond the walls, humanity", "Listen, see the fury of the world", "Resistances, the origin of the future?" , "Where are we going so fast?" , "What if we rekindle the stars?", "Not even scared", "Where are our dreams?", "The Other like me", "Live!" , "Go to the ideal", "To us, to us freedom", and in 2019: "With arms the heart".
