A young man of modest origin is accused of murdering his father and faces the death penalty. The jury of twelve men withdrew to deliberate and proceeded immediately to a vote: eleven voted guilty, but the decision must be taken unanimously. The juror who voted not guilty, summoned to justify himself, explains that he has a doubt and that the life of a man deserves a few hours of discussion. He tries to convince them one by one.
