In the 18th century, concerned with public health, Canon Godinot was a patron of the construction of the Féry Tower, used to protect a hydraulic machine that allowed the water drawn from the Vesle to rise to feed the 17 fountains built in Reims thanks to, already, to his generosity.
The tower bears the name of Father André Féry, professor of mathematics, hydraulic engineer and designer of the device, ancestor of the water castles.
Often called the Château d'eau, the Féry tower is not well known by the Rémois.
