Among the new tools that appeared at the beginning of the 21st century and made available to archaeologists and architects, we can mention the drone and the considerable progress made in computer science. The arrival of 3D in archaeology was first a technological revolution offering a tool for communication and promotion to the public, before developing to become an increasingly powerful research tool. Computer programs and treatment protocols evolve, diversify and adapt to the needs of studies. Different disciplines use these methods to provide new solutions to the constraints they face. This talk will present the contribution of these new technologies to research carried out on several Norman sites, notably in the study of the built environment, for work on ancient metallurgy and the results of 3D modeling of medieval buildings.
