The Association Les amis de la Chapelle Notre-Dame de Nazareth offers you a series of activities to discover the rich heritage of the site.

The association Les Amis de la chapelle Notre-Dame de Nazareth offers a range of activities to discover the rich heritage of the site.
On the program, a guided tour of the chapel retracing its history through the centuries and writings, proposed by Marie-Claude Fraisse, Sylvie Goll-Solinas and Jean-Claude Tronc, accompanied by music by Henri Barthès.
You will also discover an exhibition of paintings representing the chapel and its environment, as well as a selection of photographs awarded in the competition organized by the town hall.
An exhibition and sale of books dedicated to the site and to Saint-Chinianais will also be offered, as well as a tasting of Saint-Chinian wines.

The chapel of Our Lady of Nazareth located on the hill of "La Corne" (Saint-Chinian de La Corne is the old name of the village) is today a tourist place dominating the valley of Vernazobres. According to the legend, in the year 840 the Virgin Mary appeared to a shepherd. The Benedictine monks who founded the abbey of Saint-Agnan at the beginning of the 9th century, are certainly not strangers to the construction of the first chapel. However, it is only in the year 1102 that this sanctuary is mentioned in a charter of the completion of Narbonne. In 1120 after the return of the first crusade to the Holy Land, the name of Nazareth was attributed to it. In 1789 during the Revolution, which then became national property, is closed to worship. It was only at the beginning of the 19th century that it became the sanctuary we know today. A cross was erected on top of the Horn in 1897\.
