A major work of Jean Dubuffet, the Closerie Falbala was built between 1970 and 1973 in concrete and epoxy resin on land close to the artist’s former sculpture workshops and represents an area of 1610 m2. It surrounds the sinuous walls of Villa Falbala, a windowless residence designed by Jean Dubuffet to house the Cabinet logologique (1967-1969), the artist’s «philosophical exercise room», a mecca of the mind. A capital work of the Hourloupe period, the Closerie Falbala was classified as a historic monument in November 1998.
