“From the banks of the Authie to those of Bresle, since the coastal submersion at the end of the Quaternary, climatic events, tectonic movements, the actions of the sea and winds have modified, shaped the shores of our Picardy coast. Immense territories have appeared or disappeared over time, disrupting the lives of our ancestors. Generations of men, tirelessly, tried to protect themselves from the onslaught of waves and wind, to stem, to disengage, and to protect the conquered territories on the sea. Huge works have been undertaken since the Middle Ages, but is it not presumptuous to want to oppose the forces of nature?” JP Brulin - SAH Archivist
