Created during a turbulent period (1787-1790), the Town Hall replaced the former tower of Barle, now extinct, which had become too small to accommodate the municipal administration of a town estimated at 6,200 inhabitants in 1760\. The straight lines, the regular curves, the use of symmetries, the sobriety reflect the spirit of the time, implemented by the architect François-Nicolas Lancret (1717-1789). The model, presented at the Museum of Art and History, preserves the project of interior dispositions, including the development of a small theatre, abandoned in the revolutionary turmoil. Listed as a Historic Monument, the building has been highlighted since 2012, highlighting the elegance of the façade.
