Guided tours of the sailboat "France", historical monument and 1st French sailboat of the America’s Cup
Launched in 1966, the Association AFCA 12 MJI France (French Association for the America’s Cup) was created by Baron Marcel Bich to conquer one of the oldest sporting trophies in the world: the America’s Cup. Forming crews composed of experienced sailors and novices, united by this common goal, it was at the origin of the first 4 participations of France (1970 to 1980) in what will become «The Louis Vuitton Cup». The association allowed the launch of «France» in 1970, the first French sailboat of the gauge 12 MJI.
This boat, which she owns, is the only French sailboat that has participated three times in the challenges of the America’s Cup (1970, 1974 and 1977). It ensures the transmission and enhancement of this unique maritime heritage, classified Historic Monument since 1992.
During the Friday tours, you will be invited to board the sailboat, one of our members will tell you the story of this famous boat.
Depending on the weather, during the visits on Saturday and Sunday morning, you can also attend after the visit and from the dock to the preparation of the sailboat for a training trip.
