With Remember Me, the artist Juli About proposes a journey both physical and spiritual from the works of François Petrarch, Tuscan poet and humanist. Conceived as a wandering through his works, the exhibition highlights Petrarch’s thoughts, his thoughts on the body and those of the soul, in a sort of gradation, from the shadow to the light, from the tears of the body and the heart, to the metaphysical opening. Juli About’s delicate porcelain sculptures and pieces, associated with film photography, installations and other sound presences, successively evoke François Pétrarque’s Secretum, Canzoniere and Trionfi, the whole set to music and light by the songwriter Ernest de Jouy.

Francesco Petrarca (1304-1374), francisated as Francis Petrarch, is an Italian poet and humanist. Born in Arezzo, Italy, he is the author of "Canzionere", a major work in which he expresses his love for Laure, whom he met in Avignon, and who has marked romantic poetry in the West. This scholar had as masters Cicero, Virgil and Saint Augustine and will be inspired by them in each of his compositions. He settled in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse in 1338, far from the mundane and agitated life, and decided to devote himself to solitude, poetry as well as moral and spiritual reflection. The François Pétrarque Museum now presents a wealth of drawings and prints on Petrarch, as well as old editions of the poet’s works, which succeeded in reconciling the ancient world with the Christian world and faith.
