The Waldberg House contains donations from Max Ernst, Dorothea Tanning and Stan Appenzeller. Max Ernst spent the last twelve years of his life in Seillans with his wife Dorothea Tanning, both surrealist artists. The 71 prints presented in this collection were made during their stay in Seillans. They are the reflection of the processes that Max Ernst used throughout his career to solicit chance and excite his creative imagination: collage, scraping, decals without object, natural geometries that provided him with basic frames. Stan Appenzeller, born in Menton in 1901, spent his youth at the castle Grimaldi. After a past of military but especially resistance he no longer recognizes the French Riviera of the past (aristocracy disappeared, democratization rising, the crowd of paid holidays). It is in Seillans, at the Taillades domain, that he finds tranquility in his painting representing the different moments of his life, places visited including the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (meeting of Gi
