Inhabit the mountains
In the past as in the present, living in the mountains means dealing with nature, adapting to the specific conditions of the geographical environment and often to isolation. To meet all these constraints, men have implemented many strategies.
It is the characteristics and variety of architectural solutions of the so-called «traditional» rural habitat of the Hautes-Alpes that are highlighted in this exhibition proposed by the Departmental Archives.
Organized in 2 parts, the exhibition presents, in its first panels, the main characteristics of the habitat through a journey between hamlets and villages, northern and southern territory and major changes of the second half of the twentieth century.
Then a second part composed of iconographic panels, augmented with explanations and images accessible by QR codes in the application Patrimoine Hautes-Alpes, offers a geographical panel of the traditional habitat in the Hautes-Alpes.
