In the Roman city, the Philippe-Léotard Theatre receives popular shows mixing music, singing and dance. A legacy of Greek culture, the plan follows the shape of a hemicycle where the bleachers open in a fan-like manner in front of the stage. A wall closes the perspective behind the actors and hosts a sculpted decor. The theatre of Forum Iulii, built in the 1st century AD, is located in the north-eastern district of the city near the Porte de Rome. The remains still in elevation make legible the overall structure of the building and let imagine the dimensions and the ceremonial decoration of this monumental building.
