Placed under the authority of the President of the Departmental Council since decentralization (1 January 1986), the Departmental Archives are responsible for:
Collect Ensure the deposit of public archives, that is to say documents that come from the activity of the State, local authorities, companies and public institutions, but also notaries. Collect deposits from municipalities with less than 2000 inhabitants. Encourage donations and deposits of private archives from individuals, families, associations or companies.
To make the archives accessible to the public by a sorting and classification work that leads to the development of research instruments (inventories, directories, files, databases).
To ensure the material preservation of the archives, prestigious and irreplaceable heritage, in the best conditions. For this purpose, the Archives has digitization, photography, restoration workshops and have documents digitized by external service providers.
