9th Garden Book Fair of the Domaine d'Orvès, Valletta-du-Var
The purpose of the Fair is to allow the authors present and visitors to meet and exchange as freely as possible, in an inspiring setting where still feels, where the rich artistic and intellectual life instilled a hundred years ago by the painter Pierre Deval, «the master of Orvès» (1897-1993), the father of Françoise Darlington, the present owner of the place.
Will be present this year on the terraces, at the foot of the 17th century bastide:
Stan Alaguillaume, inspired by the diversity of Mediterranean landscapes to design and garden.
Yves-Marie Allain, never forget that plants, biological beings, are carriers of cultural values.
Yves Darricau, planting the future with the eyes of our bees
Nicolas Jolivot, from distant travel diaries to the drawn history of my little garden, which also has its occupants – insects, birds, plants and humans…
Jacky Jousson, to account for the beauty of Nature and the absolute necessity of preserving it in order to ensure our own survival.
Blaise Leclerc, sharing the know-how of a Provençal gardener.
Jean-Pierre Le Dantec, the art of garden and landscape: an art for the survival of humanity.
Sylvie Ligny, how the garden is inseparable from human habitats.
Jacques Maria, no garden without a gardener.
Arnaud Maurières, the garden is emotional by nature and accepts time as an essential element of the concept.
Pierre Nessmann, know-how and expertise at the service of the gardeners and gardens of tomorrow.
Thierry Thévenin, grow, pick and greet.
Also present, as every year: Claude Leray, with his books on the gardens of Toulon and the Var – and, this year, on the trees desirable for the Midi – as well as the bookbinder Alain Taral, with its wooden bindings; will be joined by watercolourist Chantal Cadenat, who will offer us a demonstration of aquerelle, as well as Éric Schemoul, with his new botanical-police novel.
Four of our authors will offer us four “small conferences-meetings”; four others have opted for an experienced approach in Orvès since last year: two “public conversations”, exchanges on a theme of their choice between two authors – and with the public, of course.
