A richly decorated sanctuary
The interior of the peribolus walls and the exterior of the eastern wall were decorated with painted decoration consisting of large panels of different colours. Near the main entrance, several fragments of painted coatings on which birds are depicted were discovered. The temple floor and cella walls are covered with marble veneers from the Pyrenees. The cella and portico columns are surmounted by tuffeau capitals of Corinthian order.
The persistence of an indigenous cult
Several fragments of the cult statue were found, including the head, on display at the museum. They make it possible to identify a sitting goddess, to bring together figurines in white earth also discovered near the sanctuary and representing a mother goddess of Gaulish origin who breastfeeds two children installed on her lap.
A busy place
Fibules (pins used to hold clothes), rings, ex-votos (objects deposited in exchange for a wish), statuettes in white earth, found in excavations are evidence of the use of the place by the faithful and give indications on the practice of the deposit of offerings.

The sanctuary is the sacred place where the inhabitants of Noviodunum went to pray and honor their divinity. Located to the north and outside the ancient city, it succeeds the Gallic sanctuary built in wood at the same place. Coins discovered during the excavations date its stone reconstruction around 66-68 AD.
A complex architecture
Set on a stone podium, the temple was 30 m long, 20 m wide and about 20 m high of which only 3 m are preserved. It consists of a central chapel (the cella), surrounded by columns. It is accessed by a staircase located on the front to the east, of which only the heart of the masonry remains.
The temple is set in an almost square sacred area, about 75 m by side and delimited by an enclosure wall, the peribolus. On the courtyard side, the 4 sides of the peribolus are bordered by a portico (space covered by a roof and supported by columns). Three doors give access to the monument; the one to the east, facing the temple and highlighted by a portico, is the main
