The mediation team offers thematic meetings.**The History Museum of Nantes
*_At the forefront of contemporary museography, with its digital features, the history museum is located in 32 rooms and features more than 1,150 collectibles. The visit paints a portrait of the city from its origins to today’s metropolis. The sections on the Atlantic Slave Trade and Slavery and the Two World Wars are international references. The visit also unveils remarkable elements of architecture and reflects on the milestones in the history of the castle and the city: the signature of the edict of Nantes, the industrial epic of Nantes, shipbuilding, etc. *_Decolonial expression(s) #3**The History Museum of Nantes, as part of the third edition of the event Decolonial expression(s), renews an exceptional invitation to an artist and historian from the African continent, so that they can dialogue with its collections.
The world-renowned Cameroonian artist Barthélémy Toguo takes hold of the spaces, his work testifying to an unwavering commitment to challenge the great subjects of our time, while establishing a dazzling relationship between past and present.
In a spirit of hospitality, Barthélémy Toguo wished to associate five artists with the event of the Museum of History of Nantes. Jean-François Boclé (Martinique), Moreira Chonguiça (Mozambique), Rosana Paulino (Brazil), Monica Toiliye (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Kara Walker (USA) joined him. Whether they are painters, videographers, sculptors, performers, or musicians, each of these artists took place in the museum’s rooms to resonate with history. Through their works, the legacies, memories and legacies of the past are addressed, but also their overcoming. In Nantes, these days also celebrate the matrimoine. In this context, a program in collaboration with Nantes Digital Week is proposed on September 16 with a workshop to participate in Wikipedia for the enhancement of matrimoine.
